Concert Reflection Question Tips

  • Tell students to plan on 2 substantiated points for each question.  (2 x 5 = 10)
  • I would normally put a check on any earned point in a written response, or highlight the section (or add a comment on Google Docs) that earned a point .  +10 is the ideal.
  • Creating a Google Doc that can be distributed and submitted via Google Classroom makes this whole system pretty manageable. You can add yellow highlighted comments right on the statements that earn styudents credit.
  • I have received a lot of great student feedback over the years using this document.  Quite often I would plan to have a video or the audio recordings available the class after the concert and allow students time to fill this in as they listen (and can have the music open in front of them).  Fantastic time spent and usually students end up submitting this form before that class is over (and of course I shared some of my pluses and minuses as we listened :-).
  • I was always vigilant on who was in attendance once warm ups started, and also to note students who weren’t in concert dress, misbehaving, or didn’t have their music organized and ready to go.  Of course, also noted who stayed after the concert to help clean up if needed!
  • Hope this helps and gives you a great starting point to add validity to grading performances.
